The Battery Minder is designed to fully charge a battery and maintain it at proper storage voltage without the damaging effects caused by trickle chargers.
When a battery is improperly charged (over/under) or allowed to self-discharge as occurs during storage/non-use, lead sulfate crystals build up on the batteries plates preventing the battery from ever being fully charged and therefore making it unable to deliver it’s full power/capacity.
The Battery Minder has a de-sulfation feature which actually breaks down the lead sulfate crystals caused by improper use by generating a resonant frequency that breaks down these crystals, allowing the molecules to return to the battery's electrolyte.
Not every battery is a candidate for re-conditioning due to mechanical damage caused by vibration or contamination, which has created "shorted" cells. If a battery has a resting voltage of at least 1.5 volts below it’s rating (10.5 volts on a 12 volt battery or 4.5 volts on a 6 volt battery) and none of the batteries cells are shorted, then de-sulfation of its plates can be accomplished.
